Kala: a woven story of Indian textile

Designing a brand that provides artisans a platform to showcase and sell their works of art

The handloom industry of India has a long tradition of outstanding artisanship that represents and preserves vibrant Indian culture. Imagining "Kala" an initiative that brings all the diverse handmade textiles of India under one roof. They provide a platform for all the artisans to showcase and sell their work. Therefore aiming to keep the art (of making handmade cloth) alive and bridging the gap between the artist and the customers.

KALA

Kala is an initiative that brings all the diverse handmade textiles of India under one roof. We provide a platform for all the artisans to showcase and sell their work. Therefore aiming to keep the art (of making handmade cloth) alive and bridging the gap between the artist and the customers.

We at Kala consider handlooms as wearable artwork

(kala-kari) and the weaver a master artist(kala-kar).

Logomark associations

  • Knot- symbolizing tying the bridge the gap between artisan and customer

  • Infinity- symbolizing keeping the art of making handloom cloths alive forever

  • Pixelated- taking from the pixelated patterns created by the looms or the weavers for designing

  • Threads are loaded on the loom -hence initially the lines come in and form the shape.

Patterns

The logo can be used to make an infinite number of patterns. These can be used as embellishments and even make subsidiary logomarks for different crafts.
